DAY 262

"A Bridge Over Troubled Water"

This picture was taken March 6, 2011 at the Brookville Water Dick Memorial Park at about 4:50pm. I worked a ten hour shift that day and had an hour lunch break between 4-5pm. The day before it rained, enough to cause the local streams to raise a few feet overnight. By morning the rain turned into sleet and later in the day it snowed. Because of the previous conditions, the snow stuck well to the branches of the trees. So on my way back to work I stopped by the Brookville Dam and ran out on the swinging bridge to snap a few HDR shots.

My Canon T2i Camera as a setting that allows one to brackets shots and then shoot them consecutively. Add a timer, and they shoot back to back to back within seconds. HDR shots are rather easy now.

This photo is of the swinging bridge downstream of the Brookville Dam. The North Fork creek was 5-6ft above normal levels and brown from the run-off.

DAY 261

This beautiful time-elapse shot was taken on March 4th, 2010 behind the Brookville Dam. This stream has many waterfalls a foot in height, or taller. This section of the stream slowly cascades down over ten feet, creating a beautiful motion blur when the shutter is set at a couple of seconds. I pushed the f-stop up the maximum on my Canon T2i but also took the ISO down to the minimum. The HDR and tone-mapping was done in Photomatrix Pro 3.2. I hope you enjoy. Please click the picture to see in a larger view! Also check out the new label/tag "Watermark Series" I was on Facebook a couple of days ago and someone suggested I should start adding a watermark to my work so no-one steals it and gains something monetary. So these particular HDR photos have my new watermark. Hopefully it is small enough that it doesn't take away from the picture.

DAY 260

This is the largest waterfall back the creek behind the Brookville Dam that I found. It falls across a rock for about a 5 foot drop, the largest being a 2 foot free fall into a pool.

DAY 259

This is a waterfall near the Walter Dick Memorial Park at the Brookville Dam. Don't be fooled, it is about 6inches high. But it looks wonderful with motion blur and HDR

DAY 258

This shot is of the North Fork Stream as it goes under the swing bridge at the Walter Dick Memorial Park at the Brookville Dam. The waters are particularly torrent because of a spring thaw.

DAY 256

Ice-buildup on some road-side weeds at the Brookville Walter Dick Memorial Park. Taken during a spring thaw during the first of March, some ice was still left beneath some rocks that were dripping droplets on water.

DAY 255

Another HDR image of the same mountain stream north of the Brookville Dam. Used a high f-stop, low ISO, and low shutter speed to create this picture.

DAY 254

This picture is of a random stream north of the Walter Dick Memorial Park in Brookville, PA. It wasn't too far from the parking lot. I entered the woods towards evening, and even then I wanted the illusion of the mountain spring to be velvety-soft. So I used a high f-stop (f-22), low ISO (100), and three exposures (1/5, 4, and 8 seconds) to create this HDR shot.

DAY 253

This wintry picture is of the North Fork creek during an early March thaw. The picture, taken from the swinging bridge at the Walter Dick Memorial Park, was taken with a very high f-stop to created the water-blur.

DAY 252

This particular centering shot of downtown Pittsburgh was taken atop the Fort Duquesne Rail-Lift near Station Square.
